Mission Statement


Everyone welcome regardless of gender, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, religious belief or creed.

The aim of the St Paul's Community Centre is to provide an affordable venue for a wide range of community activities and events for the support and enjoyment of people and groups in the community of central Worthing.

The Centre has a Christian ethos and aims to create a friendly and caring atmosphere.

Project Progress
Phase I completed in 2002 which included a new roof, bracing roof timbers, and some dry rot treatment, at a total cost of £400,000.

Phase II completed in November 2004 in partnership with the Downland Housing Association Group which included demolition of adjacent 1960's Hall, replacement with a new building of flats for people with learning difficulties and a ground floor Community Room with its own kitchen and toilet facilities as part of the Community Centre for which the St Paul's contribution was £80,000.

Phase III in progress since early 2005 to renovate and re-order the former church interior to provide a Chapel for Christian worship, a Cafeteria for sale of refreshments including light lunches, Rooms for use by Community groups, larger areas for exhibitions, theatre, lectures etc. at an anticipated cost of £400,000 plus professional fees.

New floor foundations and concrete base was laid in Autumn 2006. During the first few months of 2007 work resumes on rewiring the building for power and light as well as a new heating system.

News & Events

Coffee Mornings
Our Community Room coffee mornings on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am continue to be popular for refreshments, home-made cakes and cards, bric-a-brac or book bargains and a time to meet up for a chat. Proceeds benefit St Paul's Project and other charities. On the first Saturday of each month there is a Fairtrade Coffee Morning, often with Fairtrade products to purchase.

Community Room
Our Community Room is also in regular use for a wide variety of activities. Educational groups, health and well-being classes, training and teaching sessions on various topics, music rehearsals, business meetings, local community gatherings, private parties and much more besides.
