Phase III Work on internal renovation and re-ordering of the former church due to start in January 2005, was delayed by the discovery of extensive dry rot in several places requiring detailed consultation and specialist treatment.
A programme of 35 elements of work has been drawn up by architect Chris Richardson of drp Architects, Brighton, to cover this phase. An anticipated cost is £400,000 plus professional fees.
Removal of the old floor and its replacement will be one of the next major activities. Some money for this work is in hand and future funding is being raised by local events, donations and appeals for grants from national charities and fund-holders. A floor plan of the building shows the intended layout and pictures provide views of current conditions compared with computer graphic simulations of the completed work.
